Slash
Slash was born Saul Hudson on July 23, 1965 in
Hampstead, England. He is best known from his current band Velvet
Revolver and from his time with the groundbreaking band Guns N'
Roses. Slash got his first guitar at age 15 and was influenced by
Led Zeppelin, Eric Clapton, Alice Cooper, Van Halen, AC/DC and Jeff
Beck.
He started his first band called "Road Crew" and went
on to join the band "Black Sheep". It was from there he
was introduced to Axl Rose and auditioned to play with him to form
Guns N' Roses. For years Guns N' Roses released albums and hit songs
as they toured. Due to several disagreements Slash officially quit
the band in 1996 after stating that he could not work with Rose.
Slash quickly moved on and formed a band called "Slash's Snakepit"
but only played a few tour dates before leaving the band later that
same year. From there Slash collaborated with many different musicians
such as Marta Sanchez, Fishbone, The Yardbirds, and Derek Sherinaian.
In 2002 he began a project called "Velvet Revolver" who’s
first release went Platinum.
Slash owns more than 100 guitars and was the first musician to
own a signature amplifier created by Marshall for him. He has also
recently collaborated with Dunlop on his first signature pedal called
The Slash Wah
